Charlotte Mason Soirée will be hosting a Summer Mountain Mini June 23, 2018, in Denver, Colorado.
Mini Registration price is $75.
This Soirée Mini will include sessions on a variety of topics that are sure to hit the sweet spot!
CM Soirée Denver Metro Society Leaders, Jessica Lovitt and Ashley Olander, will be on hand to share some of their “in the trenches” experiences.
Ashley is an unlikely homeschool mom who quickly abandoned all other methods once she fell in love with Charlotte Mason after reading ‘For the Children’s Sake’. Ever since then she has been a diligent student of Mason’s volumes and loves to grow in knowledge with her local Soiree Society. You can find Ashley hiking, reading, or bird stalking with her three children and husband in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Richele is the author of the only pure Charlotte Mason Math curriculum available today. Before having children of her own, she was a venturer of faith and ardent student of Charlotte Mason’s applied philosophy of education, implementing picture talks as part of a museum docent program. As a humanities major, she found Mason’s statements regarding the beauty and truth of mathematics particularly intriguing and later, as a mother, she wanted to experience that “delightful consciousness of drawing out… new power” in her own children. She and her husband have now been home educating for more than a decade.
Art and his wife Barbara have been home educating their three children for more than a decade. Over this time, Art has been studying Charlotte Mason’s writings and applying her living ideas to his family’s homeschool. Art tells the story of how his discovery of Charlotte Mason led to a personal transformation and a dangerous adventure.
Art has written several essays about Charlotte Mason’s theology and philosophy which have been published in the two volumes of Essays on the Life and Work of Charlotte Mason, published by Riverbend Press. Art has also produced a video about Charlotte Mason’s twenty principles which may be obtained from A Delectable Education. Art walks in Mason’s theological tradition as a member of an Anglican church near Detroit, Michigan. Art can be reached by email.
Having a passion for encouraging and equipping fellow educators, Bridgett founded the Facebook group Charlotte Mason Soirée. It experienced immediate explosive growth and is now a homeschool ministry serving thousands of parents from all walks of life across the globe. She hosts many lovely gatherings, in real life and online, where all are welcome to come and experience firsthand the delectable dishes available at the educational banquet of the Charlotte Mason philosophy.
She has been homeschooling for about 3 years longer than she should have been (according to Charlotte Mason), and she can often be found with her nose buried in a book or her head in the clouds dreaming up other ways to fulfill the vision of Charlotte Mason Soirée.
The day before the Mini, there will be an optional Immersion day (limited space available) led by Richele Baburina with a special emphasis on teaching mathematics the Charlotte Mason way. If you have ever wanted to know how to teach your children CM math, then you will NOT want to miss this Immersion!
Immersion day Registration price is $75.
Mathematics through the Forms
Experience true Charlotte Mason math lessons in various grades with time for practical follow-up discussion such as placement, choosing and implementing a textbook, and when to move on to a new concept. Note: This immersion takes plenty of breaks and can be broken up with an Outdoor Geography lesson.
The Immersion day and Mini will be held at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Broomfield, Colorado, which is just outside of Denver. You should make a Girls’ Weekend of it by staying with us! You will NOT want to miss out on the Hotel Hangout happening each night…lounge/yoga pants, hot tea or bottle of wine, big bag of white cheddar popcorn, Oreo cookies, friends, and LOTS of chatting about Charlotte Mason and life!
Because we have a block of only 25 rooms, you may want to go ahead and reserve yours as soon as possible. The discounted room rate will be available until May 31, 2018, unless the block fills before then. You do not have to stay all three nights to be eligible for the discounted rate, but it is available for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
In addition to learning alongside one another, we will have an opportunity to share meals together. A catered lunch option will be available for both Friday and Saturday as well as our CM Soirée tradition of having Friday Pizza Night! More information about those can be found on the registration form.
If you need help with reading through the Volumes, you can pre-order Study Guides on the registration form below and pick them up at check-in.
Please contact our local Hostess, Ashley, should you have any questions about the Mini!
